In the beginning there was the KIM


Shortly after the KIM was introduced, MOS Technology Inc
was purchased by Commodore International. The production
of the KIM lasted only a short while under the CBM label
until it was ended. Chuck Peddle progressed work on an
expanded version with a full keyboard , cassette drive
and monochrome monitor. The ROM was extended to include
BASIC... The result was the PET launched in 1977.. and
so you can see just how important the KIM was to the
whole Commodore range of machines.

The KIM-1 and the component circuit above were the
property of a very talented electrical engineer who
sadly I never had the opportunity to meet though
I was privileged to receive these items. The man
in question was a true pioneer of computer technology
