Windows 7 Fun
OK
Last comments about the Win7 saga now over.
I have spent the night trying to make sense of what changed and what I
needed to change. For some reason in resinstalling the factory image to
the computer I now have a System volume, a C - OS volume and to make
matters worse they created an unidentified volume of the greater part of
my old C drive. So I have a 100MB system volume, a 150GB C OS volume and
a 1.5TB unidentified volume plus the supposed flash drive.... which I
seriously doubt exists as I looked everywhere. My guess its just part of
the hard drive.
So first thing was to format and give the unidentified drive a letter.
Amazing how many letters it wouldn't let me use. And now the C drive is
way too small in terms of additions for programs. I mean Archeage is
50GB. No worries, just that I can't be installing over again.
Next up I got a very quick reply from Cerious Software who granted me
the download of their latest edition to the software for free and she
gave me the key etc. Trouble was then it took me like forever to
customise the software to get it running properly. Their menus are all
over the shop and pretty endless.
Next I was able to install Adobe Photoshop 5.5 again with no issue. If
you can get a copy of 5.5 you will never be confronted with online
registration. I have managed to install this on everything from Win95 to
Win7. It avoids all the problems of the later issues. I again had to set
that up the way I liked it.
That led me to file types, folder options, Firefox menus. I mean who
uses Firefox without the menus and yet it defaults without them. And
then I have to about:config to get various things working like the
source being external and Notepad.
I told you about the joys of Norton which although a great tool just
slapped a big popup trying to flog me something to speed my computer up.
Then its Google and gettin that as the default and reading their privacy
statement and signing in.
Next I found all my favourite links and got them on the desktop and
junked all the ones put there by HP.
So last thing was to get a desktop image. Plug in my gzilionTB external
USB drives and get all my local links working. Log into Ebay and save
the password etc.. Check the footy and make a cuppa tea and watch Ed
Sheeran performing "Bloodstream" at BRIT Awards 2015.. classic. Bet he
had an Amiga.

Guess I'm happy.... My world . My rules. MS you are just a tool. You
will never be an Amiga... a true friend.
