Arnor C
Hi
Before the follow up can I say that the dick head that thought
Thunderbird should default to double spacing really had no idea what he
or she was doing. And to change it you have to change the ' PARAGRAPH'
settings which suggests the person was doubly the idiot for not even
knowing the difference between a line and a paragraph.
Anyway this is my second time of writing this as I got so frustrated I
had to go find out how to get rid of double line spacing.... Duh
I began copying my Arnor C disk and hit a problem with the Side 2 of the
disk. I will explain in full just what I did as you never know in the
dull distant future someone may want to read up on how to do this. [ By
the way that someone is generally me ]
When you switch on the Amstrad 6128 you first may want to make a record
of the directories on the 3", remembering that Amstrad 3" disks can
write to both sides of the disk ' A and B '. To do this enter 'cat' on
the keyboard and that will access the drive and show the files and
extensions.
To get to the copy command you need the CPM PLUS disk and to fire this
up you enter |cpm. To get the | symbol which is not on the keyboard you
press SHIFT+the at sign
Once in CPM I launch a tool called 'disckit3'. This gives you a
selection box to copy the disk and options for data or system etc. I
chose data and continued but three disk swaps later and before the
ultimate number 39 on the verification process I hit a snag with one file.
Time to launch CPM from start and use the PIP command. This lets you
copy individual files. First though here is that directory on the Arnor
C Side 2 or Side B
COMPILE.O - LINK.O - DIR.O - ERA.O
REN.0 - DUMP.O - TYPE.O - MFUNC.L
REVERSE.C - ERRMSG.R - JOIN.O - BOUNCE.C
STDLIB.L - SMLIB.L - COPYTOM- MSTDIO.H
MINLIB.L - COPY.C - PRIMES.C - MINLIB.H
MATHS.L - STDIO.H - STDLIB.H - SMLIB.H
MATHS.H - ST.L MATHERR.L - MATHERR.C
Using pip in CPM you enter the following to copy a file even though you
may only have one drive
*b:=a:compile.o [ change file name to suit ] and do the disk swapping
and copy over the file. The problem file turned out to be ST.L and
luckily I found another working copy and *b:=a:st.l and the whole
directory was re-created on a fresh 3" disk. And so I have two fully
working copies of the Arnor C program disk fully functioning.
I also have the Arnor C Start-up disk and Compile Disk plus the CBASIC
disk Source Code and Object Code
So that was a result. I don't mind CPM but you sure realise just how
much a 'pointy-clicky' graphical user unterface comes into use.
All done
Cuppa me thinks... Is that the time. Missed lunch.
