Apple Yawn
Hi
I didn't actually tell all the truth regarding the Apple. First the
model is the Apple ][e as can be seen from this Wiki entry
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_IIe
And secondly although I could get to the Apple ][ logo I couldn't get
any further and had no flashing cursor. This computer came with quite a
few books and things plus two disk boxes. I was unable to access the
first floppy drive as the disks point blank refused to gain entry.
I was flicking through the books and out popped this envelope with three
post cards inside and written on the front it said..
' The floppy drives are a bit tired after all these years , so if you
pop a postcard in first and ease the floppy in afterwards (on top of the
postcard) it works fine. There are a load of formatted blank floppies
(ones with blank stickers) and a selection of software manuals... Enjoy ! '
So I gently slid in the postcard and then eased in the system disk and
like magic the computer sprang to life. I removed the postcard first
before switching on I may add, as I did this with the power off to start
with. And so on the screen I get Apple II DOS VERSION 3.3 SYSTEM MASTER
JAN 1 1983 COPYRIGHT APPLE COMPUTER INC 1980 1982... and a flashing
highlighted text that says BE SURE CAPS LOCK IS DOWN. Just need to find
the caps lock now.... I have the fc [ flashing cursor ]
The Apple II I own is a Europlus the model that was modified to be used
in Europe. As you would expect. Not sure if it is working... and yes I
do know where it is.

Well that's that then . Happy I guess. Not going to use the computer.
There is a card inside the machine as it loads in various things when it
boots etc. Still not a fan to be honest. I just can't be digging around
with another system. Interestingly I have watched a few videos today
that kinda refer to three computers as key for the period... The Apple
][, the Commodore Pet and the TRS-80

I use the TRS as a small table for my Commodore Plus/4 so funny.
