Not more rubber bands
Ok You know how I said the top drive belt looked like the Amstrad one,
well turns out it was. And its way too big for the drive. Anyway I took
the belt from my busted drive and like magic ...... It didn't work. The
belt is fine. The cassette appears to work without fault. Rewinds, fast
forward and kicks into gear when I press the buttons on the Atari.. but
nah. I get error codes 130 and 140 depending on how it feels. No such
device. I have tried this on three Ataris. It is the same issue I have
with the cassette that I repaired. I tried various cassettes and finally
decided it is one of three things.
01: The cable is suspect. I don't have another.... Its unique to Atari.
02: The cassette unit is broken as is the other. Both being broken ... I
would have expected a read error or something.
03: All three Atari computers are incompatible with the games or the
games don't work on these Ataris. Even though they say they are.
I was going to say that all three computers are broken, but the 600 I
have been using all week without any issue.
I will try to narrow the thing down but given that the error I was
having was on a cassette drive with its own integral cable connector I
doubt its the actual cable. Though I could be incredibly unlucky and
have three ports that are busted I guess.
It is so strange
