XBOX One X
Hi
I always have this image of MS as a group of businessmen pushing all the
buttons and a group of computer experts that are more inclined to say '
whatever.. do what you like '. So naming became something of a period
statement with Win95 and Win98 and Millennium and 2000 and after that
they just went bonkers. It would have been better to adopt purposeful
reference letters and numbers following on from the 3's and then
identify a major shift in base construct with a new number as you show.
And then call the OS with a promotional 'tag' or name and in many ways
let the market decide.
Windows 7 for me makes me think of 2007 even though its obviously much
later and 8 kinda then follows on so by the time we get to 10 I'm
thinking has it taken that long to get this out. I assume the tech guys
got their way in the end and future 10s will be 10.01 onwards I presume.
I have to say I'm not following it in truth. The XBOX naming is just
crazy bonkers. I mean what was wrong with XBOX and then XBOXII and on. I
mean its now X and somebody should advise that is 10 or is that a way of
gently reminding folk to play XBOX in Windows X ... sorry 10.
I have a Windows 2000 Pro here and that was ace in its day but is so
slow now. I do know a lot of folk were very happy to be using the other
versions of the MS products. I don't really have any problem with the
OS's other than the bloat. I just wish they would do what they should be
specialising in, providing a disk operating system so I can use my
software and access my files and stop trying to compete with Apple in
the glorified mobile phone area. I mean Win8 was so apptastic it lost
most of its subscribers who decided to vote for another party... whoops
political. Once they got the start button back they realised where their
strength was and slowly cranked it back.
Anyway it is meaningless to me. The world now stops at 7. That'll do me.
