Less Bloat
Hi
Slowly moving my mountain of Windows stuff to a less annoying location
and came across not only seven ( yes that's just seven FLOPPY disks) for
Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, but also three ( that's three floppy
disks ) for Microsoft Word version 5-5 for Dos. System requirements ..
Dos 2.1 and above, a personal computer, a hard disk and one floppy disk
drive and 512K of memory.
Now get this, the manual, or should I say booklet is 8 pages long.
It gets better... I have here a letter from Microsoft Limited Excel
House Reading
Dated 25th March 1991
quote ... ' Thank you for asking to put our Microsoft Word 5.5 to the
test.... ' They were offering a free day training also.
So there you go. Not only was MS less bloat but more in terms of being
helpful. How things change. The days when maybe they appreciated the '
personal ' in computer.
You gotta laugh though... an 8 page manual is still 8 pages more than
you get these days. Same goes for the floppy disks.
