So not a Playstation then
Hi
In my quest for a computer to compile 5.25" disks I dug out an old PS/1.
Doesn't have a 5.25" but is old enough to understand the technology.
This is in fact an IBM PS/1

First problem the power button wouldn't stay on. Tricky little blighter.
Anyway holding it down I got an error on the clock or time. With the
button depressed I was able to set the clock time and we then launched
into Windows 3.1. All looked fine so I logged off. Trouble was it
wouldn't then log back in. I was getting IBM errors on the screen 303
keyboard and 8602 mouse.
Popped the cover off expecting a barrel but actually a coin battery. The
inside was empty. Never seen so much space inside a computer. All looked
fine and dust free for a change. Dunno what I did but the power button
now worked. I unplugged the keyboard and it came up with a blue window
error message telling me I had no keyboard ' press escape ' to continue.
Like I can do that without a keyboard. Decided to try another keyboard.
Still got the error 303 but this time it booted into 3.1 without issue.
Tried again and this time just went straight into 3.1 and the keyboard
and mouse work.
Haven't really used a 3.1 machine since 1995. Soon got the hang of it.
To the stats:
Microprocessor 80386SX
Clock Speed 25MHz
Memory 2MB
Display VGA
3.5" diskette 1.44MB
Hard Disk 85MB
Pointing Device Installed
Serial Port COM1
Parallel Port Installed
DOS Version 5.5
Windows Version 3.10
If I can't get an IBM to run a 5.25" then I doubt I'll ever get
anything to work. The aim is to get it talking to this ...

Which is basically the worlds largest 5.25" drive.
More fun no doubt. So far I have worked out how to adjust the brightness
and played Solitaire. As you do. So progressing nicely.
