A1200 Hard Driving - Post 2
OK I had a brain wave. I have this custom A1200 mounted in an A2000 case
which a fellow user of this group suggest I call Graham, so hey Graham it
is. I fired up the first 3.5" and managed to get all the way to the Backdrop
but no icons. I guessed it was set up for the 3.1 ROM which Graham doesn't
have. So I used a floppy and yes got the drives and they are all 3.9 by the
looks of it. Put back in the A1200 basic and won't work. Just not enough
power.
Next to the 3.5" 80MB gifted to me by a guy called Colin. So Colin meet
Graham. And this refused to boot. So using a BSA screwdriver which is
lovingly called HDToolbox I got the computer to unblock the blockage. Now it
fires no problem and I am currently playing K240. Classic.
The third was a load more stubborn and won't work. Haven't given up yet. See
how I get on. So two out of three is more like the odds I would have
anticipated. These 3.5" can be a pig. I have failed a number of times to get
them working on a standard Amiga.
.... Have Settlers running on Graham now who wanted to point out that he
actually did use to be an A1500 before he was downgraded to an A1200.
Settlers is classic.. that's me done for the night.
