A1200 Hard Driving - Post 2
Hi
I copied the contents of the 80mb drive via Parnet to another Amiga to save
the data and then had a go at this last drive. I decided to remove the
external drive from the Power Computing casing. Did the trick and booted
into Workbench. The drive was trying to activate various devices not on the
machine and various files were not found. However it opened two drawers HD0
and HD1 which showed a config that was probably a 3.1 OS and lacking in all
the fancy icons that should be there I guess. 200mb drive and very clean.
All works generally fine. Took me a while to set up a Parnet on the drive as
there was already a version that didn't work. There were obviously other
drives associated with the OS which I definitely think was in a tower.
IDEFix was resident plus Atapi. Anyway I am currently copying the contents
of this drive also for record purposes.
One side issue ... There is a folder filled with Japanese Anime of
questionable content. Quite common on old machines that I come across...
whoo err !!
So in the end it was 3 out of 3. Magic.
One side issue and that was although DOpus could list the info files, each
time I clicked on them I got an error message saying they did not exist.
Graham is turning out to be a real treasure for looking at old 3.5" drives.
I have a cupboard full of them, albeit mostly defunct Windows drives that I
have stored over the years. There are a few Amiga disks there and quite a
few SCSI. May give some of them a whirl.
