Sinclair failures
Hi
I see there is a news item on the BBC website today about
Sinclair. Not sure I understand. Involves their new hand held.
OK Sinclair and the Spectrum range. I have never had so many
failures of computers in my life.... I have four boxed Sinclair
Spectrum 48K and one works. I have two 16K Spectrums and neither
work. I have seven unboxed Spectrum 48K and two work. I have
four 128K with the heat sink and none work. I have five Spectrum+
and two work. I have 3 Spectrum +2 and none work. And I have
three Spectrum +3 and two work, albeit that only one has the
drive working. To cap it off my Micro Drive is now busted.
One of the Spectrums was working on 17th February 2017 and yet
today all I get is a big bright red screen.
Saying all that my ZX81s work of which I have three. Didn’t
check the two ZX80s.
The Spectrums suffer from having to unplug the connectors to
switch the things on and off. Why could they not have had a
switch. What gets me is that 9 out of 10 of all the C64s and
VICs that I own work. Nothing has that kind of failure rate.
I was playing Super Hang On on the C64 last night and having
a blast. I was getting confused with Road Rash on the Amiga
cus I thought I could knock them off their bikes. Stepping up
a gear I then booted up Ridge Racer Type 4 on the PS2 and man
does that game give me a thrill. I love drift and just taking
your foot off the gas and then flooring it to make the car
go round the corners. So responsive. Magic game I have to say.
By the way.. You gotta say that this is the business.

And both work just fine. Not sure they work as well as a USB
stick but hey keeps the neighbourhood awake in the small hours
as I load my Spectrum progs.
