Archimedes
Hi
I set too removing the battery from the Acorn 3000 and have to say it was a
pretty trouble free exercise. The case simply unclips from the back and you
lift the keyboard very similar to the 1200 to expose the battery. It had
started to pop and there was some residue around the board. Cleaned up and
neutralised and switched back on and straight into the Acorn OS. This was
the last machine badged with the BBC symbol. Not a bad little OS. No hard
drive but still very functional. A very white computer. Hasn't discoloured
in any way.
I have a video that was produced at the time to sell these machines to
schools. Quite interesting in a historical sense. Turned out to be pretty
useless otherwise. I like the help function that opens a separate window
that then explains everything that you interact with.
I have better things to do with the Microvitec so this little baby goes back
into store. Saved from the ravages of battery damage for future generations.
Hopefully.
