Strange AmigaGuide Activity
Hi
I am setting up my favourite software and the like on an Amiga
1200 that had a Workbench not of my creation and have been getting
this strange alert each time I fired up an AmigaGuide document.
Basically asking me to insert ImageFX in any volume. Fortunately
with the Amiga, unlike the dreaded PC we have a little tool that
can track each and every action so you can find the culprit. So I
fired up SnoopDOS and discovered a failed activity in Env-Archive.
In there was a Path file with the line “ImageFX:Help” written five
times. The Path file was in an AmigaGuide drawer. Anyway I moved
the blighter out and all is again working.
The amount of times I have had issues with Windows and wished I
could have SnoopDos running to see what was going on.
Sadly my HD disk drive life was short lived. I used it but once to
play Terminator 2 and it started clicking uncontrollably. Its a SONY
drive. I tried opening up but I again hit a screw I just cannot undo.
I may need some handy smaller tools for things like this. Never mind.
I have others. Just means a swap out at times. They do get hammered
a lot these drives. I stored a lot of my files on HD disks. I guess
that’s why the DD drive on the side of my original Amiga 1200 has
lasted so long. It never really got used as I preferred the larger
capacity disks of the external XL Drive.
