CP/M Plus
Hi
May sound odd but the PCW9512 that I have was not my original computer.
The one I had died in 1993 and subsequently blew up when I tried to fix
it. I actually sold the computer for parts and stuff and with it I lost
the original official disks for the computer. Fast forward to this week
and there was a guy on Ebay that must have stripped a 9512 down to each
and every screw and sold the bits in various auctions. Amongst the items
were the CP/M and Locoscript2 3" disks. The ones I have are copies and
ones for the 8512. Will be wonderful to finally have the whole set of
items for the computer back together again.
I was checking my diary and it turns out I bought the original Amstrad
PCW9512 on October 15th 1988. Which is odd given that I bought a
Spectrum+2 on 28th September 1988. So the humble Sinclair Spectrum 48K
lasted from 20th June 1983 to that date. [ not technically correct as
the original was a 16K and was swapped for a 48K when it went in for
repair at John Menzies ]. The ZX81 was bought the year previous and only
lasted a year in active service. Still works though. Amazing really. I
have a note that I bought a Flight Simulator for the ZX81 on 10th
September 1983 and Embassy Assault for the Spectrum. Must have been
using both my right and left hand.
And before you ask... November 1993 is the date for the Amiga 1200. I
love my diaries. I have an entry here for WeServe in Porchester when I
was trying to buy a 1942 Commodore monitor for £344 it says ' She has
gone to look in the stockroom '
The Amiga 1200 with 85MB hard drive £699. A HP 550 colour printer would
set you back £545 [ 4 colour only ]. Final CopyII would cost £100 or
Wordworth £130. This was from a conversation I was having with Ivan at
Lansdown computers before I bought the Desktop Dynamite pack later that
year.
Going now.. tea has gone cold.
