Ignorance is bliss
Thanks for that Paul. In truth I never have had any issue with Notepad.
Not a great fan of colours to be honest. The only functionality that
could be an improvement is spelling. Interestingly on the Win95 machine
and Win98 machine I had a very simple free program that loaded in with
the OS that placed a spell checker in the menus for all of the Windows
including Notepad. Sadly it became defunct with XP as MS took objection
I guess. Shame but hey.
I use Notepad all the time cus when I copy and paste stuff from the
internet I drop it into Notepad first to clear out all the fonts and
formatting. I also have desktop text files all over the place with never
ending entries from stuff I gather. I would be lost without it. And by
saving in UTF-8 I can carry all of the various different languages and
symbols.
I think Notepad++ is like the way Firefox looks before I hack out that
version and get it to use notepad from the Windows machine. Dunno. I
guess I'm happy... well until Windows stop shipping Notepad or Firefox
stop supporting it. Not sure if Chrome has caught up yet with being able
to assign a page source editor. Not that Google would like that kind of
thing. Probably get the document broken down into streamed elements that
require an online codec to decipher and add a Google search and cookie
monster to the process. As they do.
Thanks all the same. You never know.
