Golem RAM Expansion
Hi
Whilst mucking around with the sidecar on the 1000 I became intrigued by
an expansion device that I had in the collection which is incorrectly
labelled on my website. The item is the Kupke Golem Megabit RAM card...

This was sold to me as an expansion for the A500. It was only later when
checking something else I became suspicious. Thing is, the expansion is
buried in the bottom of a store cupboard. Well I should say was. I
unearthed the RAM box and swiftly fitted to the 1000. Sadly after the
Kickstart the little red light at the front of the unit comes on and
starts flashing and the system halts.
I opened the metal box and incredibly inside was a very small spiders
web. This has been in total darkness for like 8 or 9 years. The tops of
the upper most chips have some debris [ goo ] on them. The cards can be
removed so I may just try taking the one off. They are auto configuring.
I have decoded the German manual and the problem may be a special
Kickstart disk required. That is becoming a reoccurring issue with this
1000. So frustrating. The unit is fully populated and states 6MB.
Amazing really.
Anyway we will see I guess. Bugga .. tea gone cold again.

All delivered versions of the Golem memory bank are
Self-configuring when using kickstart 1.2 or higher.
Because it is shipped with through-grounded port,
Simply plugging a second golem card into memory expansion
possible.
Obviously, a second golem card binds automatically
The system, but it will also be any autoconfiguring
Peripherals of another manufacturer.
The Golem Ram card comes with the Ram Box
A user manual, as well as a modified Workbench 1.1, the
Golem memory bank also automatically when using kickstart 1.1
Into the system.
In addition, there are some batch files on the floppy disk
The CLI can simply be called with 'execute (Batch-Filename)'
(See also page 7).
