Seriously unbelievable
Hi
I am convinced that if an Amiga 2000 was to be transported on a plane
and it crashed, the only thing to survive would be the Amiga 2000. And
it would still be working.
All last year I struggled with the Amiga A2000HD. Broke my heart really,
as she slowly ebbed away. All I got was a flashing red light on boot and
then finally just a yellow and nothing. She died. I spent hours opening
reseating the card, checking over the chips, pressing them firm.
Nothing. In the end I gave up. [ Why me ? Why me ? I sit broken hearted ]
Yesterday having finally decided that Dave's Amiga 2000 would work if I
simply ignored the screw to the GVP and rocked it down firm into its
slot. Amazingly all last night the computer worked without fault. I
switched off and on again. I placed the casing back on and still worked.
So I decided to pull the sad old A2000HD from her spot and give it to
Dave's 2000. This morning I woke with a spark, fresh and early and
decided to swap out the chips on the 2000HD. First though to check
Dave's 2000. Worked fine, booted straight in and been running without
fault now for over an hour.
Anyway, I opened up the 2000HD and pressed on chips etc but still just
the yellow screen. So I pulled out an old busted A2000 and nabbed the
Motorola to start with. Swapped out.... This time I get a bloody green
screen. So that didn't work. I then removed that chip and gently set the
chip legs back straight on the removed Motorola and plugged that back
into the A2000HD. Switched on......... Bloody thing booted straight in.
Worked without fault, like there had never been a problem. I switched
off thinking it was a fluke. No fluke booted straight away. No yellow
screen. So I placed power tray and floppy tray back in screwed up
replaced casing and booted and she worked without fault.
Bloody hell !!! Went into the street and screamed Hallelujah and swore
I could hear James Brown screaming ' Do you see the light .. Do you see
the light ' [ Blues Brothers ]. Scrub that last bit.
So dilemma... One prized A2000 spot and now two piggin 2000s that were
busted and both decided to come back to life. Why me? Worse is that I no
longer have the challenge. The funny side to this, sorry, is if I posted
these problems on an Amiga forum that will be nameless, the only answer
would have been recapping, get it capped, have you recapped yet.
Dunno... I always sense there are way There are more things in heaven
and earth, Horatio than are dreamt of in any Amiga capping phylosophy.
Tusch tusch.
Happy days... All I have to do now is find a 1974 Dodge Monaco Sedan and
put the band back together... Did you know that they destroyed 104 cars
in the original Blues Brothers film and not one of them was carrying an
Amiga 2000.
