Postal Annoyance
Hi
Annoyance 01: Was expecting delivery of some pretty rare 5.25" disk and
they should have arrived last week. So a couple of days ago I get a card
shoved through the door demanding £1.50 postage for an item. Reading the
card it states that if I purchase postage stamps to the value of the sum
ie three first class stamps and affix in the three spots for stamps on
the card [ see over ] and post they will deliver the package. So I
trudged into the village got stamps and posted.
Fast forward to today and I'm watering the garden and up pops the
postman. He hands me the bloody card that I sent with the stamps on. I
explain and show him the detailed guidance on purchasing stamps and
posting and receiving the package. He said that he knows nothing and I
need to go to the postal sorting office. I again show him the card and
read out the instructions on buying stamps etc. He wasn't interested.
Thing is I don't have a car and trust me a taxi would cost over £30 and
there is like one bus a day.
I rang the number on the card and the lady assured me that I had done
totally the right thing and the postman was wrong in his advise. I said
surely there should have been some process involved here... from the
postman, the sorting process, and the delivery process. All of which
should have realised what should have happened. She said I should strike
out my name and address from the card and pop it back in the post.
I put the phone down. Hang on !!! My name and address isn't on the card.
Only the address of the sorting office. Even she didn't know what was
what. Sad part is I replied to the Ebay guy about the fact that he
hadn't put any stamps on his parcel and Ebay gave me an instant refund.
I didn't want the refund... I wanted the disks.
Annoyance 02: So I get a tracker report from Hermes telling me some
quite rare C64 software is on its way and it will be with me today. Well
at least that should happen. Been looking forward to this one. Anyway,
cus I'm going to get a knock on the door I had to avoid the headphones.
Later in the day there is another email saying the parcel had been
delivered. I checked the parcel box and there it was.
You may recall these types of software packages, the ones with the
cassette or disk held within a plastic inner shaped holder that made the
whole thing look like a thick book. Also there is the thick book. Sadly
also the plastic inner was smashed and the the thing crushed. I went
onto the auction and the inner was in perfect condition. The guy that
sold it hadn't provided any protection and in transit the item had been
crushed.
And so I am down today. First up for a complete failure and second for
receiving sadly damaged retro.
What can you do ?
