For ever losing stuff
Hi
Been a bit of a theme of late me losing stuff. Well since I did the
tidying up of all the kit this year I have been puzzled by the apparent
loss of two computers. Just two .. I hear you say. Well yes just two. I
did have a second Acorn 3000 and also another Acorn A3010. Now I know
neither were working. But since I did my research on the Acorns you can
get them up and running if they power up by hitting the R or Delete key
on boot.
Much like the episode with the magazines I let my mind drift before
going to sleep and imagine every likely place the things could be. From
my recent post you will be reminded that I used an old Citroen BX for
deliveries of parcels. The car was parked permanently on the drive
following me being gifted a company car. Sad that I just left it to rot.
In 2010 I did use the car a temporary store for some kit and I cannot
help but think I placed these two computer in the car for some reason.
Well.. in 2013 I went to a breakers yard and asked about the costs of
getting the car removed. We chatted a while... oddly I was the Architect
for the very building they were using. That evening when I returned home
the Citroen had gone. They left a note asking me to deliver the
paperwork when I was next in the area. Not sure I had agreed for them to
take it, but hey, the car was gone. So I could never know what I left in
the car and I was kinda of the view that the computers were gone.
And so to tonight and me retrieving the BBC Master Series beast. Tucked
below a large stack of machines and out of view I was struggling like
mad to pull the thing out. So bloody heavy. Hang on.... !! What are
these keyboards... Well I never. There was the Acorn 3000 and the Acorn
A3010. I quickly plugged in both and pressed the old Delete and like
magic I get the welcoming beep that means the system recovered from the
CMOS and booted. Well I never. Strange but true.
And now I have the largest clap of thunder, seriously and a heavy down
pour. And so welcome to the English summer. Amazing. I care not I didn't
lose my machines after all. So I'm up three tonight. Not bad.
Better switch off before the lightning takes out the computer. Just my luck.
