Entry 8th September 2019: Post 01: Acorn Pocket Book, Atari Portfolio and Oregon Osaris.

Acorn Pocket Book, Atari Portfolio and Oregon Osaris.

Small but sweet. I have a few hand-helds that I keep out for a play
and these are three of my favourites. The problem with them is that
although powered down, the batteries don't last. Each has two sets
of batteries, the coin type and the normal AA. I rarely leave the
batteries in any computer so to check if the hand-helds are working
I first have to install batteries.

Interestingly, the Portfolio has a third battery which is wafer thin
and sits on the memory card. Terminator fans may remember that the
Atari Portfolio was used in the Terminator 2 film. To call up the files
on the memory card you simply type A: and then RETURN.

One annoyance for me with all these hand-helds is that taking a
picture of the screen is a real pig. They all need direct light to
get the best results and that means glare and also a very very
reflective surface. So today's pics were a touch rushed.

I can report that each of the small computers worked and are now
back in their storage position until the next time. I always get
sucked into playing on the Atari, as it really is a mini marvel.
The keyboard is just so sexy... man is that fun to play with.

Just a quickie today.. as you do !!

Small but sweet.
