Not more rubber bands
Hi
The Atari 1010 arrived and sounded like something was very loose inside.
I know the unit is broken. Opened up and out popped the drive belt and
two bits of plastic, both incredibly sticky. I cannot work out where
they came from so I'll have to do some research. There are two belts.
One Amstrad sized drive belt and a lower smaller belt. The one on the
bottom is so loose and I doubt is doing anything. The one on the top
needs these white plastic elements set back in place. My guess is that
they have broken off. What the sticky is I have no idea. The buttons are
fixed to the drive mechanism so that has scuppered that idea. I guess I
need to get this unit working.
More research needed.
By the way .. to those that have a view that recapping is the answer to
everything, if I was to venture down that route with kit I would have to
replace thousands and thousands of capacitors. I was watching a video
last night on the Spectrum 48K. My goodness it really doesn't even
register as something I could ever consider. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE.
Breakfast.
Spectrum + with a dodgy display on the bench. See how I get on today.
