Simon Says

Hi

In this day of tablets, iphones, touch screens etc I guess its easy to
forget that life use to be way more different when switching on the
computer. Using GEOS I have come to realise just how basic early
graphical user interfaces were. I am sure there were those that refused
to move over and stayed true to the old flashing cursor.

I was mucking around with the Simon's BASIC cartridge on the C64C last
night using the 1571 drive. The drive itself in plan form is as big as
the computer. The screen offers an extended BASIC which then caused me
to go try find my Super Expander 64 cartridge. I found the manual but
not the cartridge.

After a few days, weeks, now of using a cursor based systems and not
even noticing in truth I started to reflect on how kids today would cope
with some of the following which I quickly jotted down having switched
various computer on. So how many of these have you seen on a screen
before you...

So that's your lot. Boot into the OS and that is all you would have seen
prior to 1985'ish. Amazing really.

*Better go switch the kit off before the house catches on fire. Retro is
so hot !! I have to say that the Dragon gets super hot.. but then that's
to be expected.
