Paul

I have an incredibly active mind. I tend to see it as a blessing rather
than a curse. My life has always been a process of problem solving. I
have never been able to just sit and do nothing. And everything I have
done I have enjoyed to the extreme. I have been fortunate to have
furthered a career in architecture where my work time was simply problem
solving. The design detailing and administrating the building of very
complex buildings from hospitals, police stations to libraries and even
churches together with administrating over the running of the accounts
for the office took up a massive amount of my time. And yet I could not
rest when at home as I would pursue my hobbies including computing.

And so in 2014 when I decided to have a sabbatical from work so I could
enjoy my hobby I knew I would frantically be having to fill every second
of the day with computer stuff to keep my mind active. And it has been
just as I predicted. Folk thought I was mad to give up my career in
architecture to play with computers, but in truth you gotta be happy...
and I generally never worry about such things as I don't try to be happy
I just enjoy myself by keeping busy.

I was criticized on another group for bringing to the table my
enthusiastic reporting of what I do day in and day out computer wise. So
I left and formed this group with the single aim of giving myself an
outlet for my thoughts and comments on what I do. I also keep a log of
what I do. Part of the duties as an architect is to keep a day book and
to record all that you do. I have always kept logs and diaries. It
really is wonderful to track back to all your early years and see
exactly what you were doing. I first got the idea from reading Rodger
the Dodger in the Beano as a kid who use to keep journals and books of
all his dodges. I wrote and recorded everything. I still have my own
draft and record of all the words transmitted of the first moon landing
in 1969... no videos in those days. So I have the words written as they
happened.. ' The Eagle has landed '. Incredible as it happened and a
moment in history... worth remembering.

And so my words and those that decide to participate also have the
opportunity to be butterfly wings. The point being that if you don't do
in your life how are you ever going to achieve anything.

And so what am I doing... I lay on my bed and slept as my PC copied all
the files from my Amiga brain USB drive and incredibly its still going
and took all night and still has 90 minutes to go. Amiga files may be
small but there are literally thousands and thousands of them. Just
downloaded VLC player for the new set up to play MP4s. Reading mail and
checking on Ebay for kit and items that I need. Just small things. Have
to upload my camera stuff etc. Have had to curtail my activities up here
till the summer ends now as it gets way too hot. And now I'm off to
Azeroth and Eastern Kingdoms to do some pixel archaeology. I am
levelling a character to 110 by not doing a single quest. And trust me
in Warcraft that aint easy.

And after breakfast its back to the fun. What else. And by the way I
would carry on writing even if nobody read a thing. I like the idea
that no matter how obscure and pointless the comment, one day in the
future they will be unearthed like the cave paintings of ancient man.
And maybe somebody may read them... or not. So much bollocks spouted in
the world these days. Nothing really matters. Anyone can see. Nothing
really matter. Nothing really matters to me. Its Glastonbury time and I
know one person that mails me is having a good time.

Moments in history.... er Wembley and a great place for concerts. I saw
Madonna there. I have the very large concert program lying against the
bookcase here. I was rebuilding the bottom of a wooden staircase during
LiveAid and lost the silver tabby under the floor boards. So funny. He
came out covered in cobwebs. That's old Victorian houses for you. Last
band I saw in concert was Deacon Blue. Just never found the time to go
to concerts any more.
