Given up kinda on the 1060
Final post regarding this matter. I struggled again for long periods
today, frustrated with the booting , or not booting of the software. I
tried and tried to create a disk to boot with 1.3 . First I ran out of
RAM trying to make the disk. I swung over to the 1200, but no matter how
I tried when I got to the all important create disk the edited 1.3 disk
just fills up and there is no space for everything. I am using the
install disk for the sidecar... I tried everything. I even deleted stuff
off the disk they they didn't suggest deleting. I can create a 1.2 disk
but not the 1.3. Its the 1.3 that has the later software. Never mind.
I was trying to find an earlier version of the MSDOS sofware and came
across a large box with 4.01 inside with a sticker on the front saying
KCS Power PC Board for the Amiga 500. Inside were my long lost disks for
' guess what ' a PC emulator. I have all the other items like the
hardware but never could find till today the Amiga side and MSDOS side
disks plus the full instruction manual. Never guessed they would be in
an MSDOS box... Has the sticker on the front so I guess this was sold by
KCS. Anyway... didn't work on the Checkmate. Thought there was a card in
the machine. Obviously not.
I'm having no luck with emulators so I've ditched the idea. I split the
1060 but have kept the 1000 up and am educating myself on 1.3 which I
have to say is a pain. I mean to create a drawer you have to copy the
empty drawer on the desktop and rename. I did create a drawer from the
CLI but then there is no info file so no icon. I'll play a bit longer. I
have a RAM sidecar that might be fun to try. All good fun. Saying that,
when you have machines with 2.0 OS onwards you never really want to go
back to 1.3.
So ends this sidecar episode. I think that one goes down as a draw. Or
should I say DRAWER.
