Superbase Personal - Never give up.
One thing my job as an architect taught me is to be patient. The
process of receiving a commission for a new building to actually
handing the completed project over can take literally years and
years. It was world famous architect Norman Foster that said if
an architect was to consider the amount of hours, days and years
needed to complete any given project he/she would likely never
bother even starting the thing. And so when it comes to dealing
with challenges outside of architecture the same rules apply.
You just keep plodding along and never lose your focus.
This was particularly true of my journey to secure the year 1992
magazines for Amiga Computing. I have been searching for a very
long time and this year I managed to acquire nearly all of them.
However, in taking the pictures of the magazines I discovered to
my horror that I didn't have the small booklet for Superbase
Personal. Nothing for it but to start searching again.
A few weeks ago I was amazed to find a copy of the booklet on
Ebay. I rarely talk about any addition to the collection until
it arrives. In this instance I reserved two days on the blog for
its anticipated arrival. You may have noticed the last week has
been littered with old blogs. This was cus I was expecting my
copy of Superbase Personal. Sadly after two weeks I was starting
to think it wasn't going to happen.
Anyhoo I had an email from the seller who said there had been
local problems at the post office and just maybe the package had
now been released. Sure enough it arrived. Much to my relief. And
so today I can for the first time show the mini booklet for the
software disk Issue 49 June 1992 distributed with Amiga Computing
for .... [ fanfare ] Superbase Personal. So excited am I that I
even copied the whole booklet for the blog.
So you see when collecting you really have to be patient and
never give up. It can be a long slow process but in the end is
really worth it.
As to the problems at the post office I am told that a Mr Cassidy
and Mr Sundance have been taken into police custody and will be
appearing at this years police ball ... I thank you.
