More MSX this time the Philips VG-8010

Not a particularly successful MSX machine by all accounts. The one
I have is the international version ref VG-8010/00 which has the
QWERTY keyboard and silver top case and sold on the main to Belgium,
Netherlands and Germany. The units were made in France and were the
the consequence of Philps leaving Thompson and the European Standard
project and adopting the MSX system. Sadly the computer was not well
received as it failed to provide Centronics port, expansion bus,
separate audio out and none standard PAL connector. The keyboard is
also a touch odd. The power supply is an external type.

For me it looks fine and kinda would look great sitting on the Hi-Fi
with the record deck. The silver and black look silky smooth though
collect dust badly. Nice looking thing and powered up.

Philips VG-8010 made in 1984
RAM is 32KB and has 16VRAM
The unit takes MSX cartridges of which there are two slots
Runs MSX BASIC on a Zilog Z80A running at 3.58 MHz
Text Mode 0 40 x 24 and Mode 1 32 x 24 16 colours
Sound provided by General Instruments AY-3-8910

I actually like the machine.. even if it has a shaver plug
