CPC464 - Oh no ! Not more rubber bands. Let's go

Very small delivery today and inside yet another rubber band. This
time for the cassette drive of the Amstrad CPC464. This is the sad
computer that was crushed in the mail and brought back to life and
now in need of a new rubber band. How can I refuse.

Onward .... Gonna be a long day today. Trust me.

Good old DataServe

That was quick. Three screws here.
Two on the green thingy and the
other on that pointy metal bit.
All very technical

Me pointing at the pointy metal thingy

Screws removed and drive belt needs
to be removed from the large pulley
then the second under the green thingy
over that screw place of the sharp pointy
metal thing and off the bottom wheel

Hmmm.. The belt wasn't that stretched

OK the belt is now removed

Time for a bit of spring cleaning

Very dusty

Those red pads tend to make the
belt twist. Odd that

I guess the belt is designed to
slightly twist around the top wheel
Basically the belt is square in section

Seems to run OK

Man is the motherboard dusty

Can't leave it like this

Dreadful state

That's better. Troubled by the
tracks at 21. Discoloured from what ?

Much cleaner

Looking better already

Still a bit of dust around

Don't like to work some of the
components too hard in case they
break off the board

Good old ZILOG

OK the tape is now working and
not jamming. It runs freely back
and forward. Sadly though getting
a read error. Time to use my head
cleaner and pull out the cotton buds

That did the trick. No problems now

Hmm what to do ? What to do

I know !!

Time to do some hacking

So what name shall I use ?

I'm in !!!!!

Time to get hacking

Thanks for that

Seems I have a message

Just a game

Anyway I'm all done. Tape and computer
working so time to lock this down
