VIC20-VC20 - Just some books

I tend to keep stuff together so when rummaging around the boxes
for some tapes I found this small pile of books for the VIC20.
I do recall assembling them when I was undertaking work on the
VIC20 that I have out here all the time.

It is always so rewarding to me having books from the period. Sadly
the printing of books to accompany, well anything, seems to have
died out. It isn't that the odd published work wouldn't help, but
there seems less desire these days to celebrate the worth of kit.

Last year I made the mistake of buying a Win10 machine and the
black box came with a single fold out leaflet. The Windows 10
operating system carried no printed instructions or even an actual
base OS for back-up purposes. I fell foul of the nonsense that is
MS from the get-go as the one install question was to give a valid
email address. What I failed to notice was that they assumed a
Windows Outlook or account mail address. To this day the thing
flags up an error on loading stating that the OS cannot validate
the email. Trouble is I have to receive an email from the email
to validate any change.

No matter. I have long given up trying to make sense of anything MS.

And so to the joys of the VIC20 and those little gems of published
journals, guides and documents. I sat for a while thumbing through
the pages and thoroughly enjoyed my short read. I certainly recommend
to anyone interested in retro actually getting the books. I know
its possible to download most of it but seriously when you are up
to your elbows in retro circuit board a book by your side is a real
help. They also look and feel way better.
