Entry 15th February 2024: Post 1: Amstrad CPC464 - Ever reliable.

Amstrad CPC464 - Ever reliable.

I have three CPC464 on permanent duty with a couple more standing
in the wings. I kinda fear not that these computers will work. For
they are robust and pretty stable. I did repair all the belts and
power on switches, but other than that they seem to look after
themselves.

The machine featured today is a very clean computer and works like
a charm. The cassette drive is stable and rarely lets me down.

I did try three games with the computer from the Roland series
which all were pretty dreadful. I must have listened to both Linkin
Park's Hybrid Theory and Meteora in the time I had to stand around
waiting for the games to load. It really wasn't worth it.

I used the green screen monitor as it is light weight and easy to
lug onto the bench. The Amstrad takes its power from the monitor.

Two of my other machines have the 3" compact floppy interface
and drive which makes using CP/M a real asset. Having the floppy
to save data makes life so much easier.

Anyway she worked without fault and I was not surprised. She is a
real trooper the CPC464 and I wouldn't be without one ready and
waiting to fire up. Not sure about the games to be honest. I have
a lot on cassette but am never tempted to play them. Just takes
way too long and they are generally very poor.

Happy days.

Amstrad CPC464 - Ever reliable.
