ScuzzBlog: Diaries July 2023 Entry 27th July 2023: Post 1: Time and Magik - Level 9 The Lords of Time. Time and Magik - Level 9 The Lords of Time. I was looking back over some of my older blogs that were first reported on Yahoo Groups back in 2017, and I came across something I wrote regarding the trilogy of games Time and Magik by Level 9. For some reason I was under the impression I was needing to track down two games for the Amiga called Red Moon and The Price of Magik. Thing was that all these games were released between 1983 and 1986 making them earlier than the Amiga. So what was the deal here. Simple answer, I was wrong. The earlier trilogy of games were released on a whole raft of early platforms from C64, Spectrum and Atari. In 1988 Mandarin published the Trilogy of games under the title Time and Magik. To my knowledge only Lords of Time has been subsequently re-released in 1992. OK, glad I cleared that up. I don't have the earlier non-Amiga versions though I do have the Trilogy and Lords of Time. The interesting aspect of these games is that originally they were primarily text based games on the 8-bit platforms. The release of the trilogy updated the games to include images. The hero of Lords of Time is of the present and appears to be sent back in time to recover various treasures. He does this by use of a grandfather clock that acts as a time machine. Makes a change from a wardrobe I guess. The prices currently for these games tend to be bonkers expensive from over the pond. I have noticed that most stuff from The States is out of my price bracket. Worth keeping your eye open I guess. I gave up pretty quickly searching for the games, but then like an idiot I was attempting to buy 8-bit pre 1986 Amiga games. Lords of Time dates from 1983, Red Moon 1985 and Price of Magik 1986.
