ScuzzBlog: Diaries June 2023

Entry 7th June 2023: Post 1: Computer Rounds - Kickstart the kit.

Computer Rounds - Kickstart the kit.

Bit late I know but given that the days have become decidedly
brighter and warmer I thought I would carry the camera around as
I checked out some of the computers I have switched on at times
during the day.

I start with the retro set that I use for reference purposes and
then move on to the Amigas that I use regularly located in various
places around the house.

I tended to focus on the main screen images as trying to take pics
without the tripod proved a little tricky. The aim being to show
that the computers were all working, which they were. I have also
included later on a few of my past images of the Amigas just for
reference purposes.

Tomorrow I deal with the bigger task of checking my stock of PCs
to assess the current status of the network. I did have to pull
a few wires and cables from circuits earlier this year and it was
time to get the kit back up together. That I do tomorrow.

Anyway all the computers checked with no problems and so that
leaves me nothing major to do with the actual kit over the months
ahead. A lot of the computers actually sit dormant unconnected.
These machines I bring out onto the bench to test. Remembering
that I have like 125 Amigas so it is pretty difficult having them
out and set up all the time.

Last night the power went down here for an hour and my first thought
was ... 'OK what have I done now?' All the lights in the village
go on and off when I put all the kit on. Basically its hooked up
to the town hall clock to charge the DeLorean. Obviously joking,
though does feel like that sometimes.

In all I fired up 14 Amigas today. Happy days.

Computer Rounds - Kickstart the kit.

OK from the top first I check some of the
older machines ...

Amstrad 1512 HD20 - Tatung Einstein - A1500 Checkmate

Amiga 500 ViperCD - Amstrad PCW9512 - Amstrad 6128

Acorn 7000 - Amstrad PCW8256 - Amiga 1500

My beloved first Amiga 1200 WB3.0 Blizzard 1230IV
plus external SCSI drives, CD-ROM and ZIP.

Checking the 1200 connectivity to the network.

Amiga 1200 now connected to Kasumi/Risa PC.

AMOS Professional.

Vulcan's very splendid TimeKeepers.

Next up the A500 with the GVP sidecar.

The A4000/040 with the 18GB Amiga Repository
running on OS3.9.

The lovely Paris Hilton courtesy of the PicassoIV
graphics card on my second Amiga 4000/040.

Amiga 1200 running 3.9 with Apollo 040
Squirrel SCSI and hard drives, CD-ROM and ZIP.

My Amiga 1200 games machine with GVP Jaws
and a hard drive full of games.

Upstairs we go and the A500 with A590 sidecar
running WB 3.1 no less.

Humble Amiga 600 complete with a number
of other machines Workbenches that have
been copied using Parnet.

This machine sits over an Amiga 1000 connected
to the same monitor.

Amiga 1200 3.0 ROM Blizzard 1230IV plus
Squirrel and external SCSI drive and CD-ROM.

The Workbench version to the A1200.

This A1200 sits over an A1000 with A1060
sidecar and external 5.25 inch drive.

There are also three other A1200s connected
to the monitor in this area.

The A500 with A590 sidecar in the disk room.

Next to it is an A500Plus with ROM switcher.

My Amiga 1200 with GVP Turbo that I use in
this room to my side. The computer has the
SurfSquirrel for transferring ADF files.

The 1942 looks a little washed out, but trust
me it is working just fine.

This is a Screenshot from Kasumi showing
network connection to PCs Fern, Risa and Toni
plus Samba 2.0.7 or MyAmiga. So my Amiga 1200
is active on the PC network.

Time for a little Timekeepers .. As you do.

The A1200 uses ToolsDaemon to launch programs.

OK the following are a series of old
images of some of the computers featured
as I really was not in the mood to set
up my wonky tripod and photograph them all.

The screen images were taken today to
show that all my Amigas work. And they do.

And not a Gotek to be seen anywhere.
