Falcon Watch

My decision earlier this year to extract computers from storage
and to place them hooked up so they can be tested , has meant
that I have adopted a regime or checking schedule. Some of
the computers are less fun to switch on and some are just
out and out boring. Three such machines are the Atari Falcon,
the Amstrad 1512 and the IBM PS/1.

Maybe its just me but I find the Atari OS very boring. It
lacks any kind of joy and I rarely feel like delving deeper.
Sadly the GEM on the Amstrad takes the biscuit for being the
most boring OS of all. It really is drab, dreary and well
boring. I doubt I ever muck around with the OS on this machine.
And finally we have Windows 3.1 on the PS/1. The computer is
fine and it helps a lot with 5.25" disks, but in truth the
OS is just a disk management tool.

Compare then these with the Amiga OS on the A2000 with the GVP030.
From the boot screen you really are invited into a whole magical
world of fun, enjoyment and education. The icons are warming
and the software is just so accessible.

Dunno. Others will disagree. As ever I include some images as
way of demonstration. I do apologise for the camera. It is
supposed to be state of the art. Dunno what art that would be.
It makes bright pictures dull. Square pictures crooked. And
sharp imaged blurred. I have very little control over how it
interprets what it sees, and sometimes I am left scratching
my head as to what the thing is doing. It suffers dreadfully
from astigmatism is all I can say. Never know a camera twist
and bend and bubble-eye stuff so badly.
