This is a blast from the past. I was sifting though my old archives
and came across my original photographs of the collection that have
not been edited and of the larger size. Over the years I have kinda
discarded my old photographs that I don't use.
One of my biggest joys collecting Amigas was the acquisition of the
humble A500. I would buy any old junk in the hope that when I cracked
open the case I would find hidden treasure.
I have featured the Viper 520 CD before on these pages and you can
read more by checking out the index. It is very very very very very
unusual to find a hard drive actually inside an A500. It is even
way more rare to find an accelerator. So when I opened this particular
A500 and found inside not only a card with a drive but also an
accelerator with the 3.1 ROM. How cool is that.
This is what the Big Book said:
An accelerator for the A500 which plugs into the CPU socket. Unlike
most accelerators for the A500, this card offers a large number of
additional expansions. It includes 1 x 2.5" IDE interface, 2 x 3.5"
IDE Connectors intended for CDROMs, Kickstart 3.0 ROMs and a Mini
Mega Chip slot. It is unknown whether both 3.5" IDE connectors can
be in use, simultaneously with the 2.5" IDE interface.
So scuse me for uploading these images but it always gives me a thrill.
And last night I did check to see that I removed that battery. And I
had and she is working just fine.
