Entry 10th April 2026: Post 1: Amiga monitor - The trusty Philips CM8833-II.

Amiga monitor - The trusty Philips CM8833-II.

Always a bit frustrating when you want to reference something in
a discussion and you don't have a good picture on hand. This was
case with the Philips CM8833-II which try as I might yesterday I
just couldn't find a picture. I decided to go on a search today
and sure enough I found very little.

It is very difficult to photograph monitors cus you have to deal
with the reflection, and they are big and heavy.

The story of the Philips is a bit sad cus I bought it after I
got the Win95 computer. I so missed playing Sensible soccer that
I purchased an Amiga 600 and the Philips monitor out of the adds
in the paper for a little under hundred quid. The computer was a
Rev 1 and sadly didn't support the hard drive.

Night times after work I would surf the net on the Win95 machine
and muck around on my A1200 and play Sensi on the A600. I had a
desk immediately behind me so I could swivel round.

The monitor was repaired the once for having a black screen but
sadly the second time it blew my local fixer had upsticks and
given up on repairs. Nothing to do but buy another which is the
one I use to this day.

The monitor is just fantastic what with the sound and speakers.
It has always been a very crisp screen. It can't handle all the
screen modes, but ample for gaming and your basic Amiga needs.

Anyhoo I tried to take a pic today but there are glazed doors
behind the screen and the bloody sun was being very annoying.
I gave up and used the only stock pics I have from my blogs.

I'm still cleaning the Workshop and my character in WoW is Level
88.5 needing 90 so nearly there. It takes time leveling.

I'll be back.
