Its kinda a gravity issue

Hi

Whilst I had the large table available in the small room I decided to
strip back the tower and see what was causing the issues for the Amiga
not to boot. The problem is like on a three month cycle . Generally up
until then she works without fault. Then slowly the computer struggles
to boot and then finally gives up.

The solution: Lay the motherboard flat and gently reseat all the
connectors provided for the tower that attach to the 1200 motherboard,
like the keyboard connector and the monitor connectors. Also push the
Blizzard back into its connector and to make sure all the ribbon
connectors are firmly attached to the buffered interface. In truth I do
very little but like magic as soon as I switch on she fires first time
and without fault.

As Sheldon Cooper once said on Big Bang ' Oh gravity you are a heartless
bitch ' . I just sense that the A1200 was never designed to sit like
this vertical especially the Blizzard. The weight of these items are
generally trying to drop down and it takes very little for this to
happen. So by simply reseating everything it works for around three
months and then falls over again. I'm tempted to try and lay the
computer on its side when I'm done cataloguing all the disks and use the
computer more like a big shelf.

I had a very odd moment when I switched on the computer. The tower takes
power from a single blue wire that fits into the centre of the power
connector. I switched back on and forgot that I hadn't put the blue wire
into the power connector. But the tower still booted up fine. No doubt
taking the power from the floppy connector. Not sure how dangerous that
was to the mobo but for a minute I thought I was having one of those
ghostly dreams where it really wasn't happening.

Anyway I took some pictures of the whole event plus some images of this
mountain of disks I have to plough through.

Not a washing machine... Its actually a not so
EZ-Tower from those nice folk at EyeTech

Scandoubler flicker fixer thingys [ technical ]
that let me use a PC monitor. I have no idea

The back of the Blizzard.. The light green thingy

The ribbon to the monitor port

Keyboard adaptor so I can use my 2000 keyboard

The ribbon connector to the buffered interface

The buffered interface so I can use the
3.5" hard drives, ZIP and CD-ROM

Thems ROM thingy's that do stuff

A map of the London Underground

Revision number of motherboard which folk
always want to know for some reason

DOpus with nothing in RAM T. Note the very sexy
slider to the drive selection. Bottom left or
top right if your standing on your head

My four colour Lara Croft background image
plus other stuff that is like a bit technical
I just like the picture of Lara

No idea what a Dhrystone is . Sounds like a cowboy.
I'm the red bar Acceleration. Pretty average in truth

A largish image of Daniela Pestova just to
show I can generate more than four colours
Daniela was a Czechoslovakian when she was
born into this world. Not sure what nationality
she is now. Basically a VS and SI model. Technical

Finally my hard drive installed version of
Sensible World of Soccer. Simply the greatest
Amiga game of all time. I played this game as
a simulator simply editing the teams and buying
players and allowing the little guys to play without
any help from me. So I would be mucking around on
my other machines and hear the roar as a goal was
scored and then rush over to see what had happened
I still play regularly. More so now the footy season
is about to start again. Management.. that's technical
