CU Amiga Popularity
I regret to this day throwing away all my old Popular and Home Computing
Weekly magazines. In a fit of madness I decided to clear so much paper
from the house and to shred almost everything. As an architect you kinda
tend to acquire so much paper. Drawings are the biggest offender but
technical literature and the endless stream of journals and magazines.
Endless writing means reams of paper and I just use to junk it all into
boxes in the large shed. Sadly in with the Building Bulletins and RIBA
Journals was my magazines and it wasn't until some time later I realised
what I had done. So sad.
I find magazines capture a moment in time and the photography very often
can sum up an emotion or feeling better than a thousand words. I have
so many magazines and do have them littered around the place. The images
they provide spark nostalgic memories of so much.
Like you I do not subscribe to much these days. All the magazines I once
received have long ceased to publish. The internet is not the same. It
is more like food without taste. The subject matter like the pictures
can be as crude and basic and lacking in real substance as you like.
Nobody seems to care any more. Its more about the clever comment you can
post in response than the content itself . Dunno. Different world.
Anyway, most magazines are online. Seems to be the thing these days to
journal everything. I tend to think folk collect data these days like I
use to collect trading cards as a kid. You just have to have that rare
Amiga game to add to the collection.
