ScuzzBlog: Diaries August 2019

Entry 23rd August 2019: Post 01: Acorn Archimedes 310.

Acorn Archimedes 310.

The Acorn Archimedes 310 from 1988. More than twice the speed of
the Atari ST and Amiga 500 but because of its price sold less.
Mainly popular in schools. The one featured here is from the
University of Sussex , more specifically The School of Mathematical
and Physical Sciences. Still has the locking hook stuck to the
top. I assume the Ebayer that sold the computer obtained the machine
through legal channels.

The computer has yellowed quite a lot since it arrived, as has the
keyboard and mouse which I have hooked up to the Acorn 5000.

Internally she is pretty clean with the only mod being the removal
of the side fan by the looks of things. She appears to be working
as she makes the bleeps from the speaker. The CMOS has no doubt
died but that isn't really a problem.

I do like the Acorn range of machines. I think all of the computers
I have work. The interface, particularly RISC OS is a dream to
use, though the three button mouse can be a little annoying.
