ScuzzBlog: Diaries December 2025

Entry 21st December 2025: Post 1: Amiga Nutter - twenty years ago.

Amiga Nutter - twenty years ago.

I followed through from yesterdays post to see how I entered the
game 'Caesar' in my new arrivals for that time all those years ago.
I first show a listing from as close to twenty years ago as I could
get and that being 27th November 2005, just to show my activity
for this period twenty years ago. Next I show the new arrivals for
9th May 2005 and sure enough I spelt 'Caesar' incorrect.

Point of clarification.. I became an obsessive collector from 2003
to 2008, when I discovered Ebay. I was fortunate to have a good
income and savings and stuff was bonkers cheap on Ebay. I was
incredibly busy at work and so would acquire stuff and literally
store it for a rainy day. I was very active on the Amiga groups at
the time and my collecting became a bit of a novelty. So much so I
created my own Yahoo Group and also launched the website.

My interest in computing had been dominant in my life from the
early eighties and I had built up a healthy collection even before
the Ebay period. Prior to Ebay I acquired Amiga kit through Amibench.

However, in April 2008 I concluded I could store no more and in an
instant stopped collecting. I have added any number of items since
but nothing on the scale of the 2003-08 era. I also still have all
of it in my possession, never parting with anything.

And so to that game 'Caesar' , just like many things here it arrived
and was placed in store. Most of my games are in tubs, but I do have
a few shelves of my favourite games in the disk room. I am guessing
I kept the game out cus it still had the disk and manuals inside. I
normally place all disks in disk boxes and manuals on a shelf in the
workshop. Just fell through the net.

I look back on my manic collecting era with some amazement now, given
the volume of stuff that I acquired in a short period. I dread to
think how much it would cost me today to build up the same collection.
I feel fortunate to have obtained so many wonderful items, but often
reflect on how nice it would be, just once in a while to see the four
corners of my rooms. It is very ordered but still chaotic.

Anyhoo, I was keen to track down the arrival date of 'Caesar' which
I have now returned to its place on the shelf. As ever, a place for
everything and everything in its place. The most important rule of
any collection is 'always' put the item back where it came from.
