ScuzzBlog: Diaries February 2022

Entry 3rd February 2022: Post 1: Sharp PC-7221 portable luggable.

Sharp PC-7221 portable luggable.
I am in the throws of checking various machines and today I was
struggling to retrieve a Sharp 'luggable'. Sadly I managed to kick
over a full box of disks that plummeted behind a stack of CDTVs.
Took me all morning to retrieve the things. Happens.

OK it's been a while, December 2017, and so a powering up was a
touch overdue. The Sharp 'lunchbox' boasts the worlds first
backlit LCD. A beautiful blue colour I have to say. And she was
working just as I had left her previously. The battery has long
died and so the computer asks for a system boot disk which I
do not possess.

These computers are a real joy to me and I just love the 'luggable'
fold out portable machines. They are so clever in the way they
house all the ports, keyboards, cables and drives. I do like a
screen that sits up, tis why I bloody hate laptops. And the old
keyboard is where it should be, right in front and not lurking
behind some touch pad. I know that those kiddy tablets avoid all
gadgetry, as per the Jobs decree, but really if you're going to
have equipment you should have fun with it. I mean all you can
do with a tablet is scrape wallpaper off a wall. BO-OOOORING !!

By the way this thing is a 'luggable' cus it has a bloody 'handle'.

The Sharp PC-7221 from around 1986 given that this is the later
model that removed one 5.25" and inserted a hard drive. Inside
are some batteries evidently, I have no idea.

PC-7200 series [ 7221 ] made in Japan by Sharp from 1985 onwards.
Has a full size / stroke keyboard. RAM is 320K and has a 16K ROM.
Runs on MS-DOS which is generally mandatory for these things.

OK See you again in 2027. Happy days.
