Entry 3rd February 2022: Post 2: Melbourne Draw - 48K no less.

Melbourne Draw - 48K no less.
' Good-day ' [ in Australian ]... OK that's enough of that. So I
was checking over a +2 grey with the smaller power supply and was
rummaging thro' Sinclair software disks and came across this game
called 'The Hobbit'. For some reason they shipped the game without
any artwork on the black box. I then loaded said game and puzzled
over why I was looking at an art program by Melbourne House Software.
DUH ! Wrong box.. Never mind.

Too late to hook up the colour and really, impossible to use the
software on a black and white TV. So I abandoned my gaming and +2
review and had a cuppa tea instead.

Melbourne Draw is the work of Philip Mitchell from 1983. He had
created a few games for the Sinclair and decided it was about time
the platform had a 'static art' image creator, suitable for use
as the cover art for games. I have to say he did a pretty good
job in truth. I do like the quick clear screen shortcut plus all
the other quick tools.

Surprisingly easy to use and I'm told improves greatly when in
colour, as you would expect. Philip suggests that you can use
this to create in game characters and artwork. Reduce and enlarge
images to any size. You can add special effects to backgrounds
of games. Also create personalised titles and text. And much more.

I hadn't realised I had this as it was in a black box. The Hobbit
also comes in a black box with no artwork, so you can imagine how
I made the mistake, or not.

Anyhoo the Spectrum +2 was working fine, albeit a little out of
its depth with an actual creative program in its tape machine.
I mean who uses a Spectrum to do anything other than play games.
I mean, it's unheard of.

Better go as I'm burning daylight.
