Entry 19th February 2022: Post 1: PlayStation 3 - The return of my Heavenly Sword.

PlayStation 3 - The return of my Heavenly Sword.
A couple of years back my beloved PlayStation 3 stopped working.
The usual issue of the dreaded light of death when powering up.
The console had served me well since purchased new in 2007. With
not an ounce of hesitation I purchased a replacement only to
discover in my haste that I had obtained the CHECHKO3 version
which is not backward compatible. You can easily tell the
difference as the later ones do not have the lift up flap for
the memory cards.

Boo Hoo !!

Since that date I have always threatened to get a proper and
full replacement for the CHECHCO3.

Anyhoo I discovered an absolute immaculate console on the Bay
complete with lift up flap and just couldn't resist. She has
now arrived and I gave her a run out and she works just fine.
No nasty blinking lights, no heavy fan noise and no hard
drive stuttering. She really is a thing of beauty. I had to
change the network settings, and the previous owners game
saves are all still present. Whilst I was able to log into
my account I was unable to log into the store. I believe it
has now ceased to be. This model is a CHECHC04. So that is
three I now have.

The second unit is still in its box complete with a brand new
hard drive and USB with the updates on it. I doubt I will ever
use the console. Similarly this console is now glass cased and
will sit out the rest of my life as a bookend to the first of
my PS3 consoles. I have chosen to use the XBOX 360 for this
era of gaming. The reason is simple. After the PS3 failed I
obtained all my favourite PS3 games on the XBOX and completed
all the games, the last being TombRaider by Crystal Dynamics,
which I completed just before the winter holidays. I have all
the saves now on the XBOX 360 and have saved to USB. And so I
will hammer the XBOX and save my PS3s for another lifetime.

The only real game I could never find for the XBOX was the very
first game I played on the PS3 back in 2007, Heavenly Sword.
This game was supposed to launch a new era for the PS3. Sadly
it just fizzled and popped and was never to be seen again.

And so I am reunited with my memory card slot so I can play all
my older classics on the PS3, or not as is my will. And there
is good reason for this. A very good reason. And what may that
be ..? Well that would be telling. You will have to wait.
