ScuzzBlog: Diaries February 2026
Entry 18th February 2026: Post 2: Amiga 500 No 33 - Once more.
Amiga 500 No 33 - Once more.
It's still the 18th February. How did I do that ?
I had intended setting up the A500 today in the workshop but we
have endured yet again the most horrendous storm and the lashing
down of rain and wind made the ambiance a little oppressive. So
I retired up here and have been playing Stellar Blade to disguise
the sound of heavy rain. The rain hasn't stopped all year thus
far. Never mind.
Anyhoo I dug out a previous blog showing the Amiga 500 as she was
set up all those years ago. She had been hooked up to the A4000
and I was steadily going through a bunch of disks to check what
was on them. I had an Amiga CD from Virus Free PD and it had
volumes and volumes of archived disks but no directory. So I would
decrunch them to floppy on the A4000 and then check them on the
A500. I would then record the contents in respect of the file
number on the CD for future reference.
Eventually I set up another A500 next to the A4000 complete with
GVP sidecar and second floppy drive, which is how it is set up
at the moment.
Below are some early pictures of the A500 Number 33. I include
also some images of an A500 that has remained its original shade
of white, just to prove you don't have to retrobrite all Amigas.
Personally I have never retrobrited any of my kit, and never will.
Hopefully tomorrow I can hear myself over the noise of wind and
rain and have some fun on the A500 back once more into the ...
I do find Stellar Blade very relaxing when I want to get away
from it all. I enjoy the combat and I know the story inside out
so I speed play the game now. She has over a hundred outfits so
always something different to have a run about with. Not that I
notice that much...... 'yeh right!'
Going now.
I've tidied up the scuzzblog page removing some old stuff. I
also sorted out the date order on the index. What am I like ?
