ScuzzBlog: Diaries July 2018

Entry 1st July 2018: Post 22: Amiga 1200

Amiga 1200 - Aging gracefully Part I

I was going through a whole bag of disks from a previous blog and
realised it had been some time since I fired up this Amiga 1200.
She is one of my 1200s that has discoloured badly through age and
probably is the most yellow of Amigas that I have. She arrived
very much as seen here so hasn't gotten really any more yellow.
The computer itself was sold without hard drive and yet when I
opened her up she had one but it wasn't connected if I recall.
Hence the name for this computer 'Sir Prize'.

Eyes down and here is a day with the old ' Mellow Yellow '.

By the by... still has its original capacitors and trust me I have
no desire or intention to change them. M'kay.

Amiga 1200

Where she normally sits under a dust cover

Such a warm golden glow don't you think

The yellowing actually stops at the edge
of the slope. There is a tiny bit on the
lower ledge by the eject button.

The 2.5" drive was held in by a thick
rubber band which has perished

Odd ROM chips

Screwed from the underside

Revision 2B

Better check over those pesky capacitors

Clip on mouse port daughter

The very mysterious U9

Probably not working

Those are not a pair.. Odd that.

My high tech drive cradle

Careful not to pinch the cables
as I close the case

The final screw... Time to switch on
