Entry 30th July 2019: Post 01: Commodore TV Game 3000H.

Commodore TV Game 3000H.

I do have a habit of forgetting where I put stuff. So when this
box for a monitor/keyboard/mouse switcher dropped off the top of
the Light Fantastic I kinda puzzled over why it was so light. I
mean the kvm is very heavy so what was the deal. Once I opened
the top I recall placing the Commodore TV game inside for safe
keeping. I had always intended making a replacement inner box but
never got round to doing it.

OK the year is 1977, that would be 42 years ago and video gaming
was becoming quite popular. I say video games, in truth basic pong
style paddle TV games with very little to do other than moving a
small white rectangle up and down to hit a bouncing moving large
pixel or ball.

The game offers four types of game built around the same box and
these are Rifle, Tennis, Football and Squash. Which basically
leaves a hole in one end, both ends or no ends. You get the idea.
I don't have the power supply but the game does run on batteries.
So I switched her on and she worked a treat.

I do recall the first time I ever saw a paddle game in a computer.
There was this large cabinet that suddenly appeared in the bar of
the Hussey Arms in Brownhills. It was a bit like that scene in
2001 where the ape creatures inspect the monolith but don't know
what to make of it. Remember before this beast there was nothing.
No Atari, VIC-20, ZX81 or anything. It was the beginning of
everything that was to come. So we played and played and played
and next thing you know it was replaced with Space Invaders and
we even had the games installed into the bar room tables.

The games still work and it makes the noise from the computer
and not from the TV. Obviously of historical interest though not
something I could get too excited about. Still in fine condition
and you can even today pick them up off Ebay.

Amazing that you had a choice of Amateur or Professional. I have
included a bit of video which basically is just to show the
sound it made. I wasn't able to play and photograph simultaneously.
