Entry 01st July 2025: Post 1: The VC20 - and global warming.

The VC20 - and global warming.

As I sit in my lounge confronted yet again by a heat wave that
prevents me using my upper rooms in the house I reflect on the
selfish nature of human kind and their resistance to resolve the
issues of climate change. The simple truth is that all energy
is released into the atmosphere as heat. Doesn't matter if the
source was created by wave motion or wind farm the resultant
energy will be released into the atmosphere as heat. The only
way to avoid this is to stop consuming energy.

Sadly human kind is an industrious little beast born of the post
industrial era. Consequently all the human beings scurrying
around on the planet are not discouraged from consuming produce
and generating even more consumables that all generate heat. The
sad truth is that as populations become more dependent on energy
consuming devices the maths of global population times usage will
equate to an ever increasing pressure on the climate of heat
generation. The only way to stop it is to stop using energy.

I guess by now we have reached saturation point with mobile
phones and it wouldn't be hard to establish a rough global figure
of phones in the world. By simply taking a factor of energy for
the production, selling and usage of phones from industrial
creation to final usage you would be amazed at just what this
generates in terms of heat usage. Go back thirty years and that
factor just didn't exist.

The truth is the easier we make the process of consuming the
more lethal we become as a race of destroying the planet. No
other creature is generating heat on a level that humans are.

So back to the VC20. I sat in the lounge pondering my inability
to adventure with my computers and games machines today cus as
a selfish human being I am being prevented from burning that
heat cus of the power of the sun. It is 30 degrees in here and
I can just about stand it for an hour. On the bench it was
25 degrees even before the sun had taken over my roof space.
So today I just cleaned my heat producing appliance and took
pictures of it. Very planet friendly.

The question is why do we manufacture so much heat producing kit
that has an incredibly high redundant factor. No sooner is the
iPhone latest hitting the shelves and consumers are already
prepping themselves for the next best thing. No sooner had we
created the VIC20 or VC20 for the masses than we next release
the C64 and C64C and on and on. Folk barely stop to truly use
the things they buy before they convince themselves they need
a newer more up to date version.

Society is built on the making and using of stuff and all that
stuff consumes energy and burns heat into the atmosphere. In truth
it is going to take an incredible mood shift to convince humans
to stop being so selfish. I fear that the planet is going to
spit out our atmosphere into space and leave us to perish. I am
sure many will reflect at that moment how we might have changed
matters, but sadly it'll be too late.

Just saying, its hot and from my simple charts I create each
year I can assure you it simply gets worse by the year. It has
rained here just twice in the last six months. And that for the
UK is just bonkers.

Ar hum.. at least I have the cool of my lower quarters. Time to
shut things down up here.

I never did purchase a VIC20 when they were released. I saved all
my pennies to get one in the day but foolishly met a young female
who spent it all. In the end I had to make do with a ZX81. Which
I still have as you can see,

The VC20 - and global warming.
