ScuzzBlog: Diaries June 2026
Entry 9th June 2026: Post 1: Stellar Blade - BloodRain Woked.
Stellar Blade - BloodRain Woked.
Sorry if I have used that word incorrectly, but I know what I
mean. For me gaming has always been a product of a creative team,
doing just what they want to entertain. Sure there are restrictive
practices but I doubt when the creators of Lara Croft put together
the original concept for the game they troubled themselves with
political correctness.
Anyhoo here we are in 2026 and at every twist and turn the games
feel bothered. They do not feel uninhibited in any way. You can sense
a layer of scrutiny that is tangible.
Take the Lara Croft situation. Evidently the destroyers of this
wonderful icon have ruled that they are intent on bringing back
some of the magic of Lara. Quite insulting when they use a model
form that is masculine, overly athletic and a face that looks like
a bloke. Do these artists not know how to draw feminine characters.
First rule is eyes lower on the face, wider apart and a sharpy
chin. Just look at the last true Lara from Underworld. Weird.
And so to today's rant. I purchased the PS4 for Yorha 2B and she
did not disappoint. She was a worthy character to play out the
game and kept me entertained.
It took a good few years later to get another gem into a game and
that took the form of Eve in Stellar Blade. The game was a massive
success. I had to buy a PS5 to play the game. Interestingly all
the characteristics I just cited regarding Lara apply to Eve. She
is a most curvy and attractive young lady with long hair. The
creators fought for their product in the face of the woke brigade
and like I say has been a resounding success.
They announced Stellar Blade 2 and I looked forward to another run
out with Eve. And then the shocker they changed the main character.
Gone were the curves, gone was the long hair and in place we have
a tomboy with short hair that looks like she should be at school.
Dunno what to say.
I had thought this was a remake of BloodRayne but no. Why it has
StellarBlade on the title I know not cus she is not a sword master.
Enough. Fortunately I do still have the original Stellar Blade and
of late I have been playing Tera on the console. I am not sure why
ShiftUp decided to make such a dramatic change to their product
but , given the similarity with the product to so many games of
this type, for me they removed the reason for playing it. I don't
play any of the other games so I have no reason to buy this one.
So I wait yet again for another game to catch my eye.
Never mind... I can be accused of many things when I desire a
curvy young female with long flowing hair to follow around as
she adventures strange worlds and takes on large monsters. But
it is my game time, my choice and I enjoy the experience. From
the days of Tomb Raider, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil,
Final Fantasy, the games have celebrated female protagonists
in all their curvacious forms. Never did anyone question why
females were thrust into this role. It's not the principal of a
beautiful game character that upsets me, its the hours that you
invest in an icon just to see that icon debased by superficial
clap trap propagated by folk that probably never play games. I
had thought ShiftUp had braved the woke brigade and stuck their
ground. I was wrong.
I play lots of games and when they become popular they are placed
on a pedestal and are as sacred as treasured works of art. I
replied to a post on a forum requesting my list of the top five
games for the Amiga. And they were SWOS, Settlers, Ishar 2,
Arcade Snooker and Valhalla. All of these titles are as iconic to
me as Lara Croft. Just as ManicMiner and Tetris. The custodian of
the titles bare heavy responsibility in maintaining their iconic
status. Most were simply left to stand the test of time. However
if you come to the game table and mess with my world you better
have good reason to change perfection. Most fail badly. Very badly.
In those circumstances matters not the type of game or characters.
It is tantamount to drawing spectacles on the Mona Lisa.
I am not amused.
Anyhoo I dream of the next classic. One things for sure it ain't
BloodRain. Sadly that is a lost cause and already forgotten.
Ar hum!
