Entry 18th June 2026: Post 1: Amiga 1200 - Spike recovery .. and we're back.

Amiga 1200 - Spike recovery .. and we're back.

Following on from the disaster blog yesterday regarding the failed
hard drive to Spike, one of my most treasured Amiga 1200s, I am
very pleased today to advise that Spike is back up and running.
That didn't take long.

I decided to pull another A1200 from the shelves and salvage the
new hard drive from that. She wasn't using it anyway so not a
biggy. The drive is a 40GB drive from China that I twiddled with
and got running with 4GB. Don't ask.

I didn't need my OS3.9 back up as I have chosen to stay with the
OS on the drive OS3.0. My preferred weapon of choice. For this I
needed only my Power Computing CD disks and the Analogic SCSI set
up disks.

And so in no time the wonderful Madonna from the Brit Awards is
gracing my Microvitec screen once more. And for me ... well as you
would expect, I'm a happy bunny.

I actually put the faulty drive into the other Amiga so I can check.
Last night having left it on for a few hours I got flickering extra
lights and an extended swoosh rattle. So I haven't given up hope.

Ar hum ... Happy days.
