ScuzzBlog: Diaries June 2026

Entry 23rd June 2026: Post 1: Commodore plus/4 - My forty year rule.

Commodore plus/4 - My forty year rule.

Sad as it may seem there comes a time when you really have to
face the truth that your kit is too old to use. Interestingly when
I started collecting my aim was to create a photographic record with
no intention of getting the kit working. It was only later, post 2017
that I focussed my efforts to getting the computers running.

However, I have seen enough YouTube videos now of failures due to
faulty power supplies to realise it's about time I closed things
down on certain age machines. And so was born my forty year ruling
stating that all computers over forty years old will no longer be
powered from their original power supply.

Consequently wonderful computers like the Commodore plus/4 spend
their days acting as little more than a paper weight. Sad but in
truth I never really used the computer for anything anyway.

Next year I will be signing off the Amiga 1000 from active use.
My experiences of the last few days have demonstrated just how
little I know about electronics. I just have to accept my basic
skills are close to zero and pack up the usage of these machines.
Fortunately I still have all my blog entries so there is still a
record of the computers working.

PS: I have updated the page with images of the actual plus/4 that
was featured in the original blog.

First up my plus/4 paperweight.. seriously.
