Entry 6th March 2020: Post 01: C64 - Alien Encounters.

C64 - Alien Encounters.

Whenever I go on a mooch for stuff I tend to find something very
interesting. You may recall that recently I featured the Alien
game for the Amiga. As a consequence I spent a good amount of time
watching the film and reading up on its creation. Well surprise
surprise but what did I find in an old box of loose tapes for the
Commodore 64 but the game Alien from 1984. Sadly no inlay card.

This game is not the Aliens game I do not think, that I discovered
for the C64 and 128 that came out on 5.25" disk. I could be wrong.

Anyhoo, I decided to drag out my trusty breadbin again , and this
time taking a few more pics that I missed last time, plus a
selection of goodies that every C64 owner should have connected
to their trusty machine.

I also grabbed a few of the loose tapes with a view to having a
play.

Sadly the Alien game did not work. Both sides gave either load
error or a device not found error. Undeterred I reached for my
second breadbin that I have out and tried that. Sadly still the
same. So I played Thomas the Tank Engine and cried myself to
sleep

Today I got up sprightly and hooked up my C64C games machine with
a really good datasette that plays everything. And loaded the
Alien game. And guess what ? It didn't bloody work. Both sides
giving out the same sad errors. So I had a play with some of the
loose tapes to try and forget the game but it didn't help. So I
went online and had a nose around, and maybe in time I will get
the game, which looks really crap. But that is not the point.

So that was my couple of days with my Alien encounters. And try as
I might I couldn't get the beast to appear. Though I do have this
strange sensation in my stomach. Doesn't HURT. Get it ? Never mind.
