Entry 17th March 2022: Post 1: A4000 Toaster LightWave Modeler Ateo Concepts 3D Objects.

A4000 Toaster LightWave Modeler Ateo Concepts 3D Objects.

About a month a go I tried to respond to a guy about some 3D Object
files that I knew I had but couldn't find. I was sure they were on
a CD for LightWave or Modeler for the Toaster. I have a good batch
of Toaster hardware and software but as ever it's deep down in the
plastic tub vault and I really wasn't in the mood to dig it out.

Anyhoo I searched and searched through all my CDs but just couldn't
find the LightWave CDs. So I gave up. Yesterday I was rummaging in
my PD disc collections and happened across a picture on the blog
in respect of the Virus Free PD Software. The very next picture
was the LighWave CD. So I hot footed to where that CD was located
and sure enough the CD was there next to it. Right under my nose.

I needed this CD cus the guy that I acquired the Toaster from had
put the LightWave disks in DD disk format to make creating the
install disks easer. Problem for me now was that I needed to create
a full set of disks on the emulator and then install. I am trying
to take snapshots from the PC as they give me better quality images
for the webpage. Took me a while but I managed to convince the
emulator that the seven ADF images I created were Amiga disks.

The installation went without a hitch and now all I need to do is
find a way to install the Toaster into the PC [ joking ]. I did
find the full set of 3D objects that that guy had been looking for
using Modeler. Evidently he created them for the original software.
It was great fun playing with the 3D software. Being a CAD jockey
myself I found it relatively easy to find my way around. This is
where the big box Amigas really shine.

I have the ATEO Concepts 4000 that the Toaster guy was going to
use with the hardware. It took me a good while to get the ATEO
working and I have to say you don't want to be lumbering this
tower around. HEAVY !!!

I also pulled down from the shelves the 3D objects library I have
and I plan throwing them into the emulator to have a play.

Today has been most rewarding, albeit a little tiring. What
started as a simple search and rescue of a couple of CDs turned
into a toast of an adventure that delved deep into the power house
that these big box Amigas were. It is easy to get comfy with the
cost reduced 1200s and 500s, believing them to be the state of
the art Amiga computers. But, there was a deeper more powerful
level to which the Amiga excelled and the Toaster demonstrates
this very well. It's just a shame that there are not more A4000s
in existence to bring joy to the Amiga community.

Gonna be quite strange firing up the A500 tomorrow after this.
Saying that I do appreciate the lighter weight of the computer.
If you know what I mean. May have been a 'Light'Wave but it
certainly was heavy.

Cuppa me thinks.
